Accident in Port Credit causes GO Transit delays

GO Transit commuters headed west faced lengthy delays last night after a pedestrian accident near Port Credit.

Ed Shea, spokesman for GO Transit, said the accident occurred on one of its busiest lines just before 4 p.m.

All westbound trains were halted for more than an hour, leaving thousands of passengers waiting at Union Station, and it was several hours more before service got back to normal.

“Our experience is it usually takes two to three hours to clear up,” Mr. Shea said shortly after police had authorized service to resume. “The rush hour’s usually shot.”
