Decorated War Veterans can take TTC for free on VE-Day - Sunday, May 8, 2005

TORONTO, April 25 /CNW/ - On Sunday, May 8, 2005 - the 60th anniversary of VE-Day - decorated war veterans - and a spouse or companion - will be able to ride the TTC for free.

The TTC will honour war veterans on the 60th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day by extending veterans - and a spouse or companion - free transit access all day on Sunday, May 8. War veterans will be required to show their service medals in place of paying a fare on that day. Our Operators and Collectors will be looking for your medals in order to grant you free entry onto the system. Please wear your service medals on Sunday.

Please note: the free ride offer is exclusive to war veterans. The TTC will allow one spouse or companion accompanying a war veteran to board at no charge.

TTC service on Sunday begins at approximately 9 a.m. and runs until 1:30 a.m. the next morning.

TTC transfers won’t be necessary for war veterans who travel between certain stations and connecting surface routes, or to regain free entry onto the TTC after riding GO Transit.
