Media Advisory - Queen Street East streetcar track construction

TORONTO, April 1 /CNW/ - Starting on Monday, April 4th, and ending by late-June, TTC streetcar service on Queen Street East will be diverting around a new construction zone as TTC track crews begin a track replacement project along Queen Street East, east of Kingston Road to Neville Park loop.

During the construction project, streetcars will not operate on Queen Street East between Kingston Road and Neville Park loop. Replacement bus service will be provided during various stages of the project. The bus routings, which will incorporate some local roads north of Queen Street, will change as construction staging unfolds.

Streetcar service

  • The 501 Queen route will be diverted to operate via Kingston Road to Bingham Loop, at Victoria Park Avenue.

  • The 502 Downtowner route will be replaced by the diverted 501 Queen streetcars and will not operate.

  • The 503 Kingston Rd route will continue to operate over the regular routing during the full construction period.

Bus service

  • 143 Downtown/Beach Express

Buses on this route will be diverted along Kingston Road and then south on Blantryre Avenue to Queen Street. Buses will return to Kingston Road via four different routings as road and track construction progresses.

  • 13 Neville Park

This new, temporary bus route will operate from Victoria Park Station to Queen Street, to provide service to the easternmost part of the 501 Queen route and provide a direct transfer connection to streetcars operating on Kingston Rd.

  • 64 Main

The frequency of this bus service will be increased. Additionally, buses will be diverted at times to avoid the road and track construction on Queen Street between Wineva Avenue and Hambly Avenue.

  • 92 Woodbine South

The frequency of this bus service will be increased and the evening hours of service will be extended for the duration of the construction.
