Media Advisory - Extra TTC buses to Toronto Zoo

TORONTO, Aug. 11 /CNW/ - As a service to your readers, listeners and viewers who are planning to attend the Toronto Zoo’s 30th birthday celebrations this week, the TTC would like to remind everyone that extra service is running on the following Zoo routes:

TO TORONTO ZOO

194 ZOO ROCKET (ACCESSIBLE) service runs every 20 minutes on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from Scarborough Centre Station to the Toronto Zoo. The first bus leaves Scarborough Centre Station at 8:40 a.m. The last bus leaves the zoo at 8 p.m. — one-half hour after the Zoo’s closing time of 7:30 p.m. Zoo Rocket buses travel via Hwy. 401, and will make all stops on Meadowvale Road, between the 401 and the Zoo.

If you’re heading to the Toronto Zoo during the week, you can take the 86A SCARBOROUGH bus from Kennedy Station. Buses run every 20 minutes, starting at 6 a.m. and ending at about 8:30 p.m. The 86A also runs on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

On weekends, TTC customers can also take the 85A or 85B SHEPPARD EAST (ACCESSIBLE) services. The last trips to Don Mills Station, Sheppard-Yonge Station and Rouge Hill GO Station will leave from the Zoo at about 8:30 p.m. Accessible buses on the 85 SHEPPARD EAST route will be provided east of Toronto Zoo to Rouge Hill GO Station. Previously, accessible service was only provided west of the Zoo to Sheppard-Yonge Station.

PLEASE NOTE: Not all buses and stops on these routes are accessible. These services will run until Labour Day, Monday, September 6, inclusive.

The TTC is also reminding everyone that the Family/Group Day Pass is available on Sundays and statutory holidays. For just $7.75 a day, a group of up to six people (maximum two adults over the age of 19) can enjoy unlimited travel all day, plus free parking at most TTC lots.
