Kids learn to be safe at GO KidSummer this Thursday, August 12

TORONTO, Aug. 9, 2004 /CNW/ - Hundreds of kids will get a free ride while learning rail safety tips on Thursday, August 12, when they come out to GO Transit’s KidSummer 2004.

Registration is at 10:00 a.m. in the GO Transit concourse at Union Station, on Bay St. south of Front St. in downtown Toronto. While at Union Station, kids can enjoy the GO miniature safety village and meet GO Bear, GO’s cuddly mascot.

At 10:43 a.m. everyone will board a GO Train and ride to Exhibition station, where GO’s transit enforcement officers will give a safety presentation on the dangers of trespassing and playing near trains and on tracks.

The fun continues as the children hang out with GO Bear and his friends - Oakville Transit’s Gus from the Bus, and TTC’s Barney the Beaver - while they chow down on a light lunch courtesy of Bombardier Transportation. There will also be fun activities for the kids to enjoy, such as a Yoplait karaoke booth, a LEGO creative play station, and a Disney family rest station.

The event comes to a close at noon as the KidSummer kids hop back on a GO Train to Union Station. GO’s KidSummer event is always a huge success attracting hundreds of kids, including many who rarely get to enjoy a ride on a train.
