TTC asks Ministry of Labour to treat CNE like Rolling Stones concert/Caribana

TORONTO, Aug. 13 /CNW/ - The CNE transit service requires the same degree of exemption from the hours of work provision of the Employment Standards Act 2000, as the Ministry of Labour granted for the Rolling Stones concert and Caribana.

Yesterday, the TTC filed an application with the Ministry to ask for the exemption in order to provide adequate service to the CNE.

The application is a sole application, as was the one the Ministry granted for the Rolling Stones and Caribana. In those cases, the TTC’s union, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113, would not agree to a joint application.

The TTC and ATU Local 113 tried to reach an agreement to process a joint application for the CNE, but this was not achieved.
