TTC receives 2003 White Cane Award

TORONTO, Feb. 5 /CNW/ - The Toronto Transit Commission today will receive the 2003 White Cane Week Award, presented during White Cane Week February 2 to 8, which is organized by the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Canadian Council of the Blind.

“Every year during this week we pay tribute to people who contribute to the well-being of blind, visually impaired and deafblind Canadians,” said Randy Firth, CNIB, Toronto District. “The TTC was selected because it provides free passes for blind persons.”

The TTC distributes more than 5,000 free annual Metropasses, through the CNIB, to blind people in Toronto who are registered with the CNIB.

The presentation takes place at 939 Eglinton Avenue East, Unit 101, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
