Mississauga Transit introduces time expired transfers

MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 20 /CNW/ - On Monday, March 27, Mississauga Transit will introduce a new bus transfer system that will make travelling easier and more convenient for transit riders. The new time expired transfer will offer unlimited travel in any direction for the cost of a single fare from the time a customer gets on the bus until the expiry time shown on the transfer.

“Our new transfer system will be much easier for our customers and drivers to understand,” said Transit Director Bill Cunningham. “It also adds real value to the casual transit user who will now be able to take a quick trip on the bus - there and back - all for the price of a single fare.”

When boarding the bus, customers must ask the driver for a transfer when paying their fare by cash, ticket or pass. It is important to keep the transfer and show it to the driver of each bus boarded. The transfer will expire two hours from the starting time of the route on which it was issued and allows riders unlimited travel in any direction during that time period. Once the transfer expires, customers will be required to pay an additional fare.

“We believe this time expired transfer will be an incentive to those people who do not use public transit now,” commented Cunningham. “It is a great way to travel at a low cost.”

To answer customers’ questions about the new transfer procedure, Mississauga Transit staff will be available at the City Centre Transit Terminal March 21 to 24 from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 25, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. As well, a multilingual brochure will be available on the buses, at the Islington Subway ticket booth and at the City Centre Terminal.
