3 stations close for Sheppard construction

Attention News Editors:

TORONTO, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - The Yonge Subway north of York Mills
Station will be closed Sunday, October 31, the last of 9 one-day
station closures to accommodate Sheppard Subway construction. Work on
the station was to have taken 11 days but has been accomplished in 9
days. The two final Sunday closures planned for November 7 and 14 have
been cancelled.
The TTC thanks its customers for their patience throughout these
closures. The new Sheppard Subway line will be open for service in mid
2002.
Following Sunday’s closure on October 31, regular subway service
will resume at 6 a.m. Monday. During the temporary closures
construction crews are removing sections of the roof and wall from the
existing Sheppard station.
Finch, North York Centre and Sheppard Subway stations will close
Sunday, October 31 with bus service added to minimize the disruption
of service for our customers.

extending east-west bus routes (Steeles, Finch and Sheppard) to the
temporary subway terminal at York Mills as follows:

Sheppard Subway stations will continue on to York Mills Station
- the extended routes will stop at Finch, North York Centre and
Sheppard Subway stations (adding only eight minutes to travel
   times)
- extra buses added to regular service on Yonge Street will serve
   all local stops.
