3 stations to close for 11 days

Attention News Editors:

TORONTO, Sept. 10 /CNW/ - The Yonge Subway north of York Mills

Station will be closed Sunday, September 12, the first of 11 one-day station closures to accommodate Sheppard Subway construction. Regular subway service will resume at 6 a.m. Monday. During the temporary closures construction crews will remove sections of the roof and wall from the existing Sheppard station. Finch, North York Centre and Sheppard Subway stations will close Sundays from September 12 to November 14 and Thanksgiving Monday with bus service added to minimize the disruption of service for our customers. “The Sheppard Subway project is on schedule and these closures will help ensure subway construction remains on track,” said TTC Interim Chief General Manager Vincent Rodo. “We are doing everything we can, however, to minimize disruptions for our customers by keeping the closures to Sundays, and Thanksgiving Monday, and adding extra bus service.” To assist riders in making subway connections during these closures, the TTC is extending east-west bus routes (Steeles, Finch and Sheppard) to the temporary subway terminal at York Mills as follows:

- east-west bus service which normally terminates at Finch or
Sheppard Subway stations will continue on to York Mills Station
- the extended routes will stop at Finch, North York Centre and
Sheppard Subway stations (adding only eight minutes to travel
   times)
- extra buses added to regular service on Yonge Street will serve
   all local stops.
