TTC service changes for June 1999

TORONTO, June 11 /CNW/ - A number of improvements and/or

adjustments are being introduced to provide better service during the summer months. The following changes take effect June 13, 1999.

17  BIRCHMOUNT - Removal of express service
    The 17E BIRCHMOUNT EXPRESS (Warden Station-Steeles) is being 
    removed since regular 17B Birchmount now operates as quickly 
    as Express service.

505 DUNDAS and 506/306 CARLTON - Temporary service during track 
    Because of this track and road work, services on the 506/306 
    CARLTON and 505 DUNDAS routes will be changed:

    Streetcars on the 506 CARLTON route will operate between Main 
    Street Station and Lansdowne. Buses will operate between High 
    Park Loop and Lansdowne. The 306 CARLTON overnight route will 
    run with streetcars between Main Street Station and Lansdowne,
    and with buses between Dundas West Station and Lansdowne. 
    Timed transfers between the overnight buses and streetcars 
    will be scheduled in both directions at Lansdowne.

    Streetcars on the 505 DUNDAS route will operate between 
    Broadview Station and Lansdowne. Buses will operate at most 
    times between Dundas West Station and downtown. After 10:00 
    p.m., seven days a week, and before 9:00 a.m. on weekends and 
    holidays, when the number of customers is lower, buses will 
    operate between Dundas West Station and Lansdowne only.

    The road and track work is scheduled to be finished by July 

121 FRONT-ESPLANADE - Seasonal hours of service increase
    Summer service to Ontario Place and Exhibition Place will be 
    operated from Monday to Friday (summer service on Saturdays, 
    Sundays, and holidays began in May) and will be extended until
    approximately 12:30 a.m., seven days a week.

30  LAMBTON - Seasonal route extension
    The route will be extended into High Park on Saturdays, 
    Sundays, and holidays. Buses will operate from High Park 
    Station into High Park from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 

86  SCARBOROUGH - Seasonal route extension
    The route will be extended to the Toronto Zoo on Saturdays, 
    Sundays, and holidays, until approximately 8:30 p.m. Buses 
    will follow the same routing to the zoo as they do from Monday
    to Friday.


RD NORTH - Seasonal route extension The route will be extended to Canada’s Wonderland on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and until 7:30 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. Buses will operate to the park on Weston Road, Major Mackenzie Drive, and Jane Street. This extension is funded by Vaughan Transit.

Seasonal service increases
    Service will be increased on the following routes, to match 
    the higher ridership at this time of year:
    511 BATHURST - Evenings, seven days a week
    64 MAIN - Sunday and holiday afternoon
    85 SHEPPARD EAST - Sunday and holiday afternoon
    510 SPADINA - Monday-Friday midday and Saturday, Sunday, and 
    holiday early evenings.

Seasonal service reductions
    Service will be reduced in peak periods on many routes, to 
    match reduced ridership levels. Extra trips that have been 
    added to the schedules to accommodate school traffic at the 
    end of the morning peak period and the beginning of the 
    afternoon peak period will also be removed for the summer.
