Monorail for Commuter Use Urged by City Controller

The monorail transport system, which the TTC claims unworkable for rapid transit purposes, will be examined as a possible commuter service.

Controller Cornish yesterday persuaded Board of Control to ask the Toronto Planning Board for a report on placing elevated monorail tracks beside existing subways.

Suburban reeves Tonks and Singer claim the monorail could be built for $12,000,000 along the route of the proposed east-west subway. A rapid transit system is estimated to cost $200,000,000 for the same distance.
